Maurice sat at his desk writing steadily with both hands, as usual. His door was open, which meant that he did not mind being disturbed, as usual. He was as ever ready for visitors whether personal or business related, as usual.

Only very rarely were any of these conditions not met. Being one of the more sociable Memory Keepers it often fell to him to pass on messages to the rest of the group from outside forces as well as those inside. Still, he didn't mind the responsibility, it was almost always a pleasant surprise when he heard somebody knocking on the door.

"Come in," his effeminate and gentle voice called out with a smile. He didn't look away from his page though, he was so close to finishing it that he simply could not.

"Kitta used those words?" Maurice furrows his brow. Since Attiké never spoke to anyone else, it had to have been the pain Keeper who had given these harsh criticisms. If it had been anyone else, Attiké would not have cared enough to talk about it.

Attiké gave Maurice an extremely dry look. "I believe his exact wording was more 'ru-ru-r-ru-ruthl-l-l-less', if I am painfully honest about the conversation."

Maurice massaged his forehead with his fingers a moment. Just one moment before the smile came back. There was no point in scolding Attiké for teasing Kitta, he knew the other Memory Keeper loved him very much.

"The word was said, it doesn't really matter how." He paused briefly.

"For Kitta to say such a thing must mean that he is indeed concerned for you regarding your Memory Keeping methods. What do you think?"

Maurice would have to have Kitta keep an eye on that, he had already decided. If Attiké was telling him this he must have wanted an intervention of some kind. Why else would he come to him and say anything at all? He would make himself the 'bad guy' as he usually did, but that was fine.

"I think I am free to edit my memories as I see useful. However, I felt it best to cross-check opinion."

Attiké held up one hand and one finger, as if to stop Maurice from forming a thought he felt was coming. "I am not asking for an opinion on my methods. In fact, my curiosity lies with how other Memory Keepers work. Do they indulge in the exact science we were taught when trimming their own memories; or like me, do they adopt a personal method.

"I have already inquired at several libraries, and so I come to you, Maurice."

"I imagine most have told you they feel memories are reverend and not to be brutalised too harshly. However it is your choice in the end." He told him. "It is also unlike you to care about the opinions of others unless you yourself are concerned. I hope you are mindful of that."

"Personally, I am sparing with my own memories, keeping them as carefully as I would any other living being. It is not in me to eradicate the things I do not care to remember or feel, since I believe learning from them is more important."

"Your method and opinion is noted," Attiké said bluntly, turning himself to leave. "I thank you for giving your time to give it, as I am aware that in speaking I take up quite some time."

"Attiké." Maurice gave a sympathetic look. "I always have time to hear what you have to say, no matter how long you take to say it. The same applies to Kitta as well."

He gave a sigh. Those two were so estranged from the others, it was difficult to gauge what the best course of action was when they were concerned.

"I hope the remainder of your survey goes well."

"It does not matter much how the general opinion is, I merely wish to know if I am within the general opinion or if, as usual, I am not."

Attiké gave Maurice a dry look, one eyebrow lifted. "Do not misunderstand my feelings on being an outsider. Merely because I want to know if I remain on the outside or have gained some footing into the group, does not mean that I am trying to fit in and regretting how I chose to maintain my memory.

"However I shall remind Kitta that your doorway is open."

Maurice gave a slow nod. Seeing that Attiké was now quite desperate to leave, he said no more on the subject, allowing the other Memory Keeper time to 'escape' as it were.

"See you in training."

"Being that we both have excellent eyesight, I am of no disillusion that we shall both notice each other again when we are in training."

Attiké gestured with his hand, cutting open a portal to another library, stepping through it without a further goodbye.
